Wally

Pembroke Corgi

About Wally

Born May 11, 2012
Weight 28 – 30 pounds
Height 12 inches

Wally is our daughter’s dog and my grand puppy. He joined our family on July 31, 2012, and lived with us for his first few years. Wally was raised by Norm (Saint), and they were the best of friends. After Norm’s passing, Wally raised George (Saint), and the two shared a special bond. Wally’s favourite game was “flip and pin”. George would voluntarily somersault, careful not to crush his playmate, and let Wally pin him to the ground.

Wally now lives in Guelph but visits frequently and stays with us when our daughter travels. Although the smallest member of our pack, he is also the bossiest, loudest, fastest, and smartest dog in the house.

“Smart” really doesn’t do justice when describing Wally. He is brilliant. This is, in part, an inherent breed trait but also a testament to my daughter’s work in building a positive working relationship with her dog. Wally knows hundreds of tricks, but his most impressive skill is interpreting visual and vocal cues and responding appropriately. I talk to Wally in complete sentences; he understands what is expected and delivers.

I love the breed and am so glad I had the opportunity to have a Corgi as part of our family.
